Asa Wheeler letters, 1821.

The collection consists of two letters from Asa Wheeler in Norwich, VT, to Sumner A. Webber in Cavendish, VT, 17 March and 12 April 1821. In the letters, Wheeler writes of the daily routine at the Academy (Norwich University) as well as details of the uniform and fellow cadets. Sumner Allen Webber (1798-1862) entered the Academy (Norwich University) in 1821 and graduated in 1824. The control file included with the collection contains additional information on both Asa Wheeler and Sumner Webber. Typed transcriptions of the letters are available.

Asa Wheeler of Cavendish, VT, entered the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy (forerunner to Norwich University) in 1820 and graduated in 1823.
